"København" (Copenhagen) is the newest line from Stanwell. Danish design since 1942. From our experience, shape 63, together with shape 86, is one of the most sought-after Stanwell designs.
Shape 63 is an iconic Stanwell shape, instantly recognizable by its natural plateaux briar top, beautiful grain and majestic appearance.
In recent years, the limited availability of high-quality briar has had an impact on the price of this particular shape. Shape 63 requires briar cut from the valuable outer plateaux section of the briar burl. This part of the briar is especially sought after by both artisan pipe makers and pipe factories, and suitable pieces are increasingly difficult to source. For this reason, shape 63 is priced higher than the other shapes in the series. As described above, shape 63 is cut from the top plateaux section of the briar. Due to the natural character of this part of the wood, individual pipes may vary more in appearance than standard pipe shapes.
